Adjusting to Home Life

I've offically been a stay (work) at home mom for a week.
Here is what I have learned thus far:
It took a year for the house to get to be this chaotic, it will take more then a few days to remedy that.

My children have missed me, and I have missed out on so much. Baby girl loves to play with dolls and copies everything I do, little man just really needs some mommy attention. It's been a 3 person parade at my house all week (ie: they follow me wherever I go, even if it's just for a second) It's so good to know them again!

I can take both of them, for a whole day (9-6) to source and thrift and we made it home in one piece, a car full and only one major meltdown (mostly by me!) In the future I will try to remember to pack more formula and snacks and the ipad car charger~ that will help!  (Baby girl is still on a limited diet to help prevent her asthma from getting worse and to hopefully help her outgrow it in the future, so we are still not doing any dairy until at least her 15 month check up, hence the formula!)

I can cook beans in the crockpot using this recipe and they are really good! (and cheap!)
Much better than the beans I tried when we were first married and I didn't know you are supposed to soak them overnight!

When I list I sell despite security breaches and being the black sheep of google's family.

I need to be nicer to myself and not expect Rome to be built in a day.  Hubby is already worried that I am pushing myself too much. He's probably right.  I know that I need more than 2-3 hours sleep. I just feel overwhelmed by how much I need to do for both my family and my business. Again, it's not going to happen overnight and I need to set some boundaries or I will work too much.

My hubby says it's nice to see me smile again.

In many ways it feels like teaching was years ago, in others it feels like any other summer. I don't think it's really going to sink in until school starts again.

We have a busy week ahead of us, Bible school every morning next week and hopefully a little small town sourcing afterwards. 30 boxes almost all packed and ready for Amazon on Monday.  Keeping up with laundry ( it took me 35 loads to get caught up! not including bedding!) I think we will be able to get by with less clothing now that I am home.

My plan going forward to getting the house more in order ie: enough so that I am not embarrssed if someone shows up to visit. I can get a cleaning schedule and declutter schedule going once the surfaces are cleaned off, and 10 total listings a day- on Amazon, Ebay or etsy.

Flood water continues to rise, due to sudden hot weather (ie snow melt) and rain storms every afternoon.
Current water level at the bridge is 9ft. 10", water will go over the bridge at 10 foot. The water is expected to crest on Tuesday, but if it keeps raining everyday we could have some major trouble, again.

I have a few posts mostly written and plan on posting more this week.
upcoming topics include:
organizing FBA supplies
setting daily/weekly/monthly goals
little kids and ebay- how to try to make it work
daily schedule

I forgot one really important thing about being at home. Sometimes it's hard, which I knew it would be, but I absolutely wouldn't trade it for anything!

No garage sale today

I was so happy that I was able to get my car at 4:00 yesterday. The littles and I were all excited and packed up to go to the garage early this morning. Then my mom called me last night to let me know that the river was rising and that it was expected to be 7 foot over the bridge we needed to drive on in the morning.

Ugh, the thought of another flood makes my stomach hurt! Please pray for all of the people who live along the South Platte river in Colorado. Many families have just been able to get in and start repairing things from the flood last September. My parents live right on the river (high enough not be affected by the other flood) but one of their neighbors just moved from their motorhome into their new modular house last week, and several others have had their old homes bulldozed this week. They were just starting to rebuild their lives and homes and now the water is rising again. It's possible the flooding could be worse than last time, as there is so much gravel and damage from the other flood that there is not as much room for the water to go in the river before it goes out of its bank.

So our plans now involve heading to town early this morning to stock up on baby food and formula. Then I will come home and work on listing some of my old garage sale finds. My family is fine and in no danger from the flood water, but we could get stuck like we did last time and no have any roads open to get food etc without a 3-5 hour detour. We went from severe drought the last few years to way too much water! Hope the weather is cooperating more where you live!

I can't believe it's finally here

I am now offically a stay at home Mom!

Spent the day packing up my classroom, then took my car to the shop. My radiator is leaking! There is a huge garage sale that happens every year on this weekend that I was really hoping to go to tomorrow, wouldn't that be a great way to kick off my new adventure?

It's about an hour away from me and sadly, hubby has to work and use his truck this weekend and with my car in the shop, I don't know if I will be able to go.
Here's hoping my mom will take pity on me and let me borrow hers, or maybe we'll be lucky and my car will only need a quick fix! It should be interesting with both littles in tow, but I thought I might as well figure out how it's going to work now.

So, until I know, my plans for tomorrow are:
spend some much needed quality time with my kiddos
package the two items I sold today and get to the mailbox before 9 am.
laundry, lots and lots and lots of laundry
carry ebay listed inventory from our living room out to my shop to put away (some of it's been in the house since January! Just keepin it real)
vaccum living room
list 10 items on ebay
begin this declutter your house program

What are your plans for the long weekend?

I have plans to post my tenative work schedule later on this week, so be sure to check back.

Countdown continued

Can I just say how crazy kindergartners are once their regular schedule starts to unravel?
We have been DIBELS testing, finishing up other end of the year assessments and generally falling apart! We have had a fieldtrip, field day, read a thon, and class picnic this week, with kindergarten graduation next week. Crazy time of year.

On the bright side, my class had a first today.

We had a fire drill today.
There is a big hill we have to walk down to get to our safety spot.
This is the first time all year that I didn't have any children who decided it was best to roll down the hill.
Celebrate the small stuff, right?

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming. . .

Counting down

Mother s day clip art
Spent Mother's Day with my beautiful family. It's snowing like crazy in Colorado today, but they all still bundled up and spoiled me with a beautiful corsage, breakfast in bed, a trip to the local Goodwill, yes, I wore my corsage there (where they let me shop for 2 hours!)  lunch and the movie Heaven is for Real. Do they know what I like or what!

I feel very blessed, even though I only made it thru part of the movie before having to go out with baby girl, who decided screaming her lungs out would be great for the movie.

And, now that we're well into May, let the countdown begin!

School days until I'm an official Work from home Ebay Mommy
9

I can't wait for our new chapter to begin!
